Hello again,
This is my final music blog post for the class and for it I wanted to learn about practising strategies for the future after this music class is over. I found some great information on piano practising from Musicnotes. They have broken it up into 10 tips for practising:
- Plan out your learning,
- Don’t just play, but also listen to yourself practising,
- Look at the music away from the piano,
- Spread out your practice times,
- Start out playing the music slowly,
- Break the piece up by the hand used,
- Focus on the proper rhythm,
- Pick a comfortable fingering pattern and stick with it,
- Make a routine for practising, and
- Understand how you learn.
When keeping this in mind, anyone can be successful in their musical growth objectives.
This is my piano final. During which, I had made several attempts to record myself playing. Often, something or someone would interrupt the playing and I got a little frustrated. So, i took a small break and then went back to it feeling calm and as ready as I could be. I still struggle with the transitions between notes and with my dynamics on this piece. Overall, I feel that I have practised as much as I could have and I played the best I could. This makes me feel confident in my piano skills because I have shown so much growth over the semester.
I have learned: the base clef, to play good with the right hand, to play with the left hand, and to play with both hands simultaneously. What a productive semester!
Till next time,
Preston
